How will hosting an international student benefit my family? Top

Hosting an international student will benefit your family by:

  • Sharing the American Dream with a student of another culture
  • Providing the opportunity to show a student from another culture that American people do work hard, play hard and are passionate about their concern for the local and global communities
  • Having an up-close and personal opportunity to learn about another culture or cultures
  • Having an "edge" on the future for your own children who through this experience will have an edge on education and the international business world. Your own children will be better able to understand and communicate across cultures

As a CETUSA Host Family, choosing a student is easy:

  • You will work with a CETUSA Coordinator to choose the student that best matches your family
  • Students hail from Albania, Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China (and Hong Kong, China), Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Macedonia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Venezuela, Yugoslavia, amongst others

What happens when we want to go on vacation? Top

When your host family would like to go on vacation, here are some solutions:

  • Often host families will arrange for the student to go with them
  • In the event that is not possible to take the student with, perhaps a neighbor will take the student while you are traveling

We are very busy, is that a problem? Top

Busy families are great host families!
  • We have students who will fit right into that lifestyle! Eventually, students make their own friends at the school and begin to accept invitations from them

How do I qualify to host a student? Top

Qualify to host a student by doing the following:

  • Complete a Host Family Profile (this is an external link to an Acrobat Reader file)
  • Invite a CETUSA Coordinator into your home for an in-home Host Family interview
  • Allow CETUSA to check your references
  • Allow CETUSA to seek approval from your local high school

How do we know that we will be successful? Top

Your family will be a successful Host Family for the following reasons:
