Try to picture 120 high school students representing 24 different countries from around the World all in one location at the same time. Can you do it? If not, you should have joined us on the Florida trip to see it for yourself!
As adults, we were very encouraged to see so many CETUSA students from so many countries having such a great time together. It really didn’t seem to matter what country they were from, or what their native language was, since most of the time the students spoke English in order to communicate with each other.
And the weather…, it was nearly perfect all week long! We enjoyed a beautiful blue sky every day with very few clouds and temperatures that were generally between 75 and 85 degrees during the day. The nights were cooler, but still very pleasant.
We started each day with an excellent breakfast buffet at a nearby IHOPrestaurant where our group nearly filled the main serving area. After breakfast we boarded the buses and were on our way to a fun day at a Disney theme park. Upon our return to the motel in the evening, some students chose to swim in the heated swimming pool before retiring to their rooms to rest and get some sleep to prepare for the next day’s activities.
It’s hard to believe that our week in Florida passed so quickly, but it did, and some students felt both happy and sad on the return trip home. Happy because they enjoyed the trip and made many new friends from other countries, but also sadbecause the trip was coming to an end. Many students stated that they planned to remain in contact with each other even after they returned to their home countries. This was indeed a great group of young people!
