Host Company Description:

The host company is a family-owned business, and a popular casual restaurant in Bar Harbor, Maine with a retail store downstairs. Known for their fresh Maine lobster and the freshest lobster roll in Bar Harbor, the restaurant offers a wide range of dishes featuring healthy and fresh food, celebrating the bounty of Maine. The seafood is caught in the waters directly in front of the restaurant and other food includes organic meats, burgers, artisan pizzas, and more. The intern will have hands-on experience in business management functions of a retail outlet at the restaurant.

Position Description:

  • Assist in scheduling FOH employees and managing hours for the FOH employees
  • Learn to complete FOH purchase orders, POS transaction management
  • Learn and participate in weekly inventory counts and pricing techniques for new inventory
  • Monitor inventory levels, including ordering new stock, conducting regular inventory counts, and ensuring that the store has the right products in stock to meet customer demand.

Applicant Qualifications:

  • To apply for the Internship program, applicants must be hospitality or business management undergraduate/graduate students OR a be recent graduates who begin program within 12 months of the graduation date
  • Some prior hospitality and guest service work experience is preferred
  • Excellent English is required
  • Willingness to learn and develop leadership skills
