Host Company Description:

This non-profit organization specializes in designing, manufacturing, and supplying biomass burning stoves to developing countries. They aim to create cookstoves that are efficient, affordable, and culturally appropriate for those that receive them. Their clean burning stoves produce less emissions and require less fuel, which results in less deforestation and better health for those that use them.

Position Description:

  • Performance, combustion, safety, durability, and emissions testing of cookstoves and related materials & systems.
  • Biomass fuel analysis, and analysis of above testing results
  • Providing input to stove designs based on experience testing & testing results
  • Documentation and improvement of testing methods and protocols
  • Making improvements to & calibrations of laboratory systems & equipment
  • Building cookstove prototypes out of sheet metal (forming, spot welding, and general metal fabrication), ceramics, refractory, & other materials.
  • Writing reports, developing PPTs, and presenting results to the team.

Applicant Qualifications:

  • To apply for the Internship program, you must be an undergraduate student of science/engineering-related degree OR a recent graduate starting the program within 12 months of graduation.
  • To apply for the Trainee program, applicants must hold science/engineering-related degree degrees and have at least 1 year of professional work experience related to the degree, OR be career professionals with 5 or more years of professional experience in this field
  • Applicants must speak advanced English
  • Collecting, organizing, & analyzing data with proficiency with MS Excel, PPT, and Word.
  • Significant lab & report writing experience with strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and able to work independently and with a team
